CRA | Energy transition

Theo Baart was commissioned by the College van Rijksadviseurs (CRA) to look at (and visualize) how the energy transition is hesitantly unfolding in the Netherlands. This led to the book ‘Energy landscapes - a photographic zero measurement’. The publication shows in 32 photos with explanations the early stage of a development that will lead to a radical transformation of the Dutch landscape in the foreseeable future.

The book consists of 5 chapters. Four chapters successively portray the energy sources sun, biomass, wind and water, in combination with their landscape integration and appearance. The fifth and final chapter 'Transition' makes clear how the landscape changes with the necessary interventions by the central energy suppliers and grid operators.

The ‘Swiss’ binding was chosen for the finishing of the book. This binding ensures that the book opens nicely and the photos come into their own.
